Exclusive Interview: Steven Defour on His Coaching Career
Steven Defour, a former professional football player, has recently announced his retirement from the sport. However, instead of leaving the world of football behind, Defour has decided to embark on a new journey as a coach. In an exclusive interview with stevendefour.net, Defour shares his thoughts on his coaching career and what motivated him to make this transition.
Q: Congratulations on your retirement and your new role as a coach. Can you tell us more about your decision to become a coach?
A: Thank you. It was not an easy decision to make, but after 15 years of playing professional football, I felt it was the right time for me to hang up my boots. Coaching has always been something that interested me, and I have been preparing for this transition for a while now. I believe it is the next natural step for me in my career.
Q: What inspired you to become a coach?
A: Football has been my passion since I was a child, and I have always been fascinated by the tactical aspect of the game. As a player, I enjoyed studying different formations and strategies, and I believe I have a good understanding of the game. I want to use that knowledge to help and guide young players in their development and hopefully make a positive impact on their careers.
Q: What are your goals as a coach?
A: My main goal is to help my players reach their full potential and achieve their dreams. I want to create a positive and competitive environment where players can improve and learn from each other. Ultimately, I hope to build a successful team that plays attractive and effective football.
Q: What do you think are the biggest challenges you will face as a coach?
A: As a player, you only have to focus on yourself and your performance, but as a coach, you have to manage and motivate an entire team. It is a different kind of responsibility, and I know it will not be easy. However, I am ready for the challenge, and I am fortunate to have learned from some great coaches during my playing career.
Q: What advice do you have for young players who aspire to become professional footballers?
A: My advice would be to never give up on your dreams and to always work hard. Football is a tough and competitive industry, and you will face many challenges along the way. But if you have the passion, dedication, and perseverance, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Q: Lastly, what message do you have for your fans?
A: I want to thank all my fans for their support throughout my playing career. It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for all the memories and experiences. I hope to continue to make them proud as a coach and give back to the sport that has given me so much.
